Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge – Things I Collect (7.15.2020)

One thing I love about this whole blogging thing is the people I’ve been connecting with who are part of the community. When I first started this blog, I didn’t even consider that there was such a thing as a book blogger community, and even when I realized that was a thing, I still felt kind of weird about trying to infiltrate it. Like I didn’t belong o something. Which is ridiculous of course, but honestly, being a person with social anxiety who constantly deals with Imposter Syndrome, that’s something I’ve dealt with my whole life so it’s no surprise I’d feel that way. Anyways, the point I’m trying to make is that now that I’ve finally started to try to connect with other book lovers & bloggers I’m realizing how many awesome bloggers are out there who have some really interesting things to say and I love getting to know them, even in a small way. Another thing I really love about this whole experience is these blogging memes and challenges I keep stumbling across as a result of those other bloggers I’ve started following. There are so many, with so many different topics and every time I discover a new one, I get so excited and want to take part.

Anyways, the point of that whole rambling introduction is that I found a new weekly blog challenge that I thought had some really cool topics, so I figured I would write this blog post. This one is hosted over at Long and Short Reviews and there’s a list of different topics each Wednesday.

This weeks topic is Things I Collect and oh boy do I have a list.

My Collections

Books (of course.) I don’t know exactly how many books I have. I’m working to catalog them all using the Goodreads app but it’s taking awhile. It’s definitely more than 100, which is a lot by some peoples standards and not very much by a lot of other book lovers standards and as far as I’m concerned NOWHERE NEAR ENOUGH!

Notebooks. I am a sucker for a pretty notebook, and I love to write so they’re kind of essential – or at least that’s how I justify it. The sad thing is I do suffer from This-is-too-pretty-to-write-in-itis, made worse by my severe I-should-have-been-a-doctor-my-writing-is-so-messy-ism, so, there’s that.

Craft supplies. I craft a lot, and always have a million ideas for new craft projects so I’m constantly getting new craft supplies to add to my stash. I’m the kind of person where, if I see something I like my brain immediately goes “I bet I could make that” and then I need to try. You got a craft idea? I probably have the supplies for it. It’s so bad, I realized recently that I somehow ended up with THREE hot glue guns. How is that necessary? I have no idea. Two of the crafting things I’ve been collecting the most lately are silicone molds and glitter because I have an Etsy shop where I sell resin art (shameless self promo) so I’ve been making a lot of that this year.

Silk Flowers. I’m getting married…Sometime. Possibly next year or the next? With all the things going on in the world right now it’s really hard to lock down Dates, but i am planning a wedding and one of the things I decided very early on was that I’d rather use fake flowers and do all the arrangements myself so I’ve been collecting random fake flowers here and there for awhile now. You can see them pop up in my book pictures once in awhile but technically they’re for my wedding.

Dungeons and Dragons miniatures. My husband-to-be got me and my daughter playing Dungeons and Dragons and I got hooked on that and on painting miniatures. Between the two of us now we have a massive collection of miniatures, with only a small percentage of them having finished paint jobs because there is just so many of them! This is our army:

Dice. Another D&D side effect. When we first started playing, we each picked out a set of dice and the first miniature to represent our first character. As we got more and more into it and our characters leveled up, the dice requirements grew. Now my dice collection looks something like this:

Those are the main things I collect. Leave me a comment and let me know what you collect!

  1. Welcome to the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge! I’m glad you’ve joined us.

Your D&D miniatures are cool! I’ve played that game a few times and like it.

I hope you get your wedding date nailed down soon. Covid-19 has interrupted so many plans!

    My post.

  2. Thank you! I was surprised how much I ended up loving D&D, and painting miniatures! And thanks, I hope we get the wedding date nailed down soon too. We’re not in a huge rush though, but it would be nice!
