Happy Monday book lovers! As I mentioned in my previous blog post, I’ve taken a little blogging break to focus on writing a book. Which is going…pretty well. I’ve gotten a LOT done, but I still have a lot of work to do…but I also really miss blogging already so I’m going to try to update here at least once a week. I have a couple fun ideas for blog posts I want to write over the next little while, and I’m even toying with the idea of writing about some of the great resources I’ve discovered for writing, and some of my experiences and challenges. But for today I want to talk about book covers!
One thing I’ve been thinking about a lot while I’ve been writing is book covers. Specifically ones I like and what style I might end up wanting whenever I finish writing mine. I’ve been thinking a lot about what I’m most drawn to in a cover – and what I really dislike – and I started noticing some common themes.
These books all come from my TBR so I have not read any of them. I can’t say if they are good or terrible and I’m not recommending any of them for that reason. I will however include links to where you can purchase each book – or just find out more information – if you’re interested (just click the picture!) but don’t hate me if you read any of them and don’t like them. I’m just saying the cover is pretty! Also please note that if you do click the link to purchase you may find that the cover is different, that is because I usually link to the kindle version and sometimes the cover is different for that.
I definitely have a fondness for some very specific colour schemes, flowers, space themes (especially of the “falling/floating through space” variety apparently, which is hilarious to me because nothing scares me more,) gold & fancy fonts. I don’t typically seem to be drawn to covers with people on them very often. I definitely don’t seem to very into simple covers, and I seem to really like something with a fantasy/fairy tale type vibe to it. It’s kind of cool seeing them all laid out like this to compare the common themes.
What kind of book covers are you most drawn to? Let me know your favourite covers so I can check them out. Or if you feel like it, write a blog post like this one displaying the common themes you like on book cover. Just don’t forget to leave me a link below so I can come see what you have to say!
