End of the Year Wrap Up – Goodbye 2020!

Wow you guys. We made it through 2020 finally. What a year. I say “finally” but I feel like this year flew by while also taking forever, somehow. I’m not really sure what or how that happened but it was a weird one. I sincerely hope that 2021 is better in about a million different ways but…I mean, the New Year is more a symbolic thing than anything else. Not to be cynical or anything but there is no actually barrier separating 2020 from 2021. But in the spirit of fresh starts and all that I’d like to look back on this past year of blogging and touch on a couple things.

Reading Challenge Progress

Well at the beginning of the year, I challenged myself to Read My Height in 2020. After a fairly decent start to the year, I got stuck some time around April when I found myself in a reading slump that would go on to last months. I ended up giving up on my reading challenge in June because the pressure of trying to complete a challenge just seemed to be making things worse for me. So it wasn’t a good year for me for reading challenges.

My Favourite Posts On This Blog In 2020

Let’s Judge a Book By It’s Cover, because it was fun seeing a visual representation of some of the themes I love on book covers.

A Love Letter to Reading, because even when I was dealing with a reading slump that felt like it would never end, I enjoyed looking back at some of the things I love about reading and it helped to remind myself that even if I did stop reading for awhile, I’d find my way back to it.

Books Coming Out In January 2021, because it was nice to look ahead and think of up coming books I’m personally excited for.

My Favourite Instagram Posts Of 2020 (from my account)

I am so bad at remembering to use Instagram. I’m not consistent enough on there and my account doesn’t get much engagement and hasn’t really grown much because of that (and other things I’m sure) so I struggle with making it a priority. One of my goals is to change that in the new year. If you’d like to help me stick to that goal, come follow me! If I have people to interact with maybe I’ll may more attention to it!

My Favourite Books That I Read In 2020

The Starless Sea took me on an adventure I didn’t know I needed, and left me feeling more inspired than I have in years. Where The Forest Meets The Stars was an emotional gut punch of a story unlike anything I have read before. Make Me Yours was a sexy romance story with a ton of heart. These are definitely the 3 books I loved the most this year.

Looking Ahead To 2021

I don’t want to say too much about any of my goals or plans for 2021, in this blog post. Just because I would like to dedicate a separate one to that topic. But I will say I’m probably going to attempt some sort of reading challenge, possibly even a blogging challenge or an Instagram challenge to try to get myself in the habit of being more consistent. I’m extremely excited about many books that are coming out in 2021, and I’m crossing my fingers I won’t have any more reading slumps.

That’s it for this blog post. I’d like to know: If you could summarize 2020 in either a word or a sentence, what would that be?

Also, leave me a comment with your Instagram name if you’d like me to come follow you and attempt to be your bookstagram buddy (that was cheesey and I’m not sorry) or a link to your blog if you happened to also post a 2020 Wrap Up, I’d love to read it.

See ya next year 😉
