January 2021 Reading Wrap Up

Well we made it through the first month of the year! Congratulations everyone. I hope everyone’s 2021 is looking at least a little better than 2020. Reading-wise, my year is off to a pretty good start. I read a decent amount in the beginning of the month, which was good because the latter half of the month I started slacking and didn’t read very much at all so that early momentum really helped get me off to a good start. Considering I set my Goodreads goal at 24 books for the year, I’d say I’m probably going to have no problem with that. (Although I think I said the same thing last year and that didn’t really work out the way I hoped.)

So let’s recap everything I read in January!

I recently decided I was going to start re-reading some of my favourite books I hadn’t picked up in awhile, and the Night Circus was the first one I decided to re-visit, and I can’t lie I loved it just as much as I did when I first read it about 10 years ago.

Look for a blog post – or possibly a series – coming up soon where I discuss re-reading old favourites as a reader who typical shuns re-reads!

The Marriage Pact by Michelle Richmond

I had attempted to read this book about a year ago maybe and got distracted by something else and gave up on this one. I’m glad I picked it back up and gave it another shot because it’s a pretty interesting story.

I’d rather not give anything away, so I won’t go into the details but this is a really interesting story that really makes you think about what it means to have a healthy marriage.

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen

You can read my review for this book on this post, so I’m not going to say much else about it. Not the worst book I’ve ever read but slightly disappointing.

I read the first book in the Cloverleigh Farms series finally, and I liked it even thought I definitely had some complaints.

I’m planning on writing a blog post about the CF series as a whole, so I won’t say much else just yet. But overall, I think this is a great series and I definitely recommend it.

The final book in the Cloverleigh farms series, and unfortunately my least favourite of the bunch. This one just didn’t do it for me, which was especially disappointing because it was the one I was looking forward to the most.

Non Fiction

Soooo…about that.

I very distinctly remember saying you should shame me if I didn’t read any non fiction books each month and oh man, one month in and I’ve already failed at this. So by all means, shame away.

I actually started reading – and made fairly decent progress with – 3 different non fiction books, but I didn’t finish them so unfortunately I have nothing to include here. I will also say that, in my defense I read 3 more fiction books than I said I had to so maybe it evens out? (it doesn’t.)

Ok that’s it for me this month, now I want to know what you finished reading in January! Leave me a comment and let me know.
